We all have expectations of ourselves to be that person that we would like to be, to achieve success and to attain the material possessions that we believe we should have.
If we set a timeline or deadline for these expectations, are we considered a failure if we have not achieved or accomplished what we planned for by the set time or point in our lives?
If this applies to you in any way, no, you are NOT a failure! No matter how much you plan, life is not a road-map that you can rely on. However, it’s important to realize that there is always an alternate plan laid out for you, whether you realize it or not. If you have come to a bump in the road, instead of feeling down or disillusioned, take that experience and make the most of it. You never know why you are at this point and why is it happening to you but sometimes the difficult things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us.
On life’s journey, you have to take the good with the bad. It’s often difficult to understand, but having gone through hard times makes you appreciate the good times even more. In a way it is just like the weather… if we never had winter we wouldn’t appreciate summer as much. On the other hand, if we learn how to enjoy the winter and make the best of it, the experience could even be enjoyable. It’s all about perspective.
We’re all familiar with the expression – “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade”. Well this is a reality of life. Not always easy but we have to keep trying to replace out negativity with optimism and hope.
With life’s twists and turns, setting goals is a good thing but don’t be rigid about time-lines or outcomes. Just keep moving forward, doing your best with a positive attitude. You’ll see it will definitely pay off and you will be so appreciative for all that you have experienced, as those experiences will have given you the strength and confidence to be the best that you can.
